How to Keep Your Brand Consistent
on Instagram

Whether you’ve hired someone to create your brand, or you’ve done it yourself, you want to make sure you’re using it! It can be easy to throw your wedding brand out the window when you start showing up on all of the different social media platforms. But let me tell you, staying consistent on Instagram is JUST as important as every other area of your wedding business.

So, how do you do it? You’ve set up your Instagram account and you’ve started posting. But there’s a good chance you’ve got no clue how to keep your branding consistent on the platform. I have tips for you!

Read on to learn how to keep your brand consistent on Instagram.

1. Add Highlight Covers that Match Your Color Palette

Highlights are the little circles that appear right below your bio on Instagram. You can use these to group together things like past reviews, your portfolio, or things about your life. A great way to keep your brand consistent on Instagram is to create highlight covers that match your color palette. This can easily be done using a free service like Canva! In fact, Canva has tons of really great templates for Instagram highlights that can be customized to fit your brand. If you don’t want to mess with templates, you can create a photo with background colors to match your brand color palette.

2. Use a Filter That Matches Your Brand Aesthetic

Using a filter that matches your brand aesthetic is one great way to create a cohesive feed that matches your brand. Choose a filter that best fits the look and feel of your brand, and use it consistently on all of your photos. My favorite apps to use for filters and photo editing are VSCO and Adobe Lightroom. To my knowledge, they both offer free and paid plans.

If you don’t want to use an external app, you can always stick with a filter that you can find on Instagram. The choices are a bit limited, so this wouldn’t be my first choice.

3. Create Graphics Using Your Brand’s Typography and Color Palette

I’m sure you’ve seen the posts on Instagram that include FAQ’s, inspirational quotes, and other great pieces of information. You can create graphics just like this using your brand’s typography and color palette. This will help extend your branding to your feed while providing awesome information to your followers. I make all of my graphics in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator. If you don’t have access to these programs, you can customize templates in Canva to match your brand.

Once you customize a template or create on in Photoshop or Illustrator, make sure to save it so you can use it again in the future!

4. Create Instagram Story Templates

Instagram stories are my favorite way to show off my brand. My favorite way to stay consistent on Instagram stories is by utilizing templates. I realize that I’ve said the word “template” at least a hundred times in this post – but it’s only because they’re the key to consistency. Like the graphics I mentioned above, I create all of my Instagram story templates in Photoshop or Illustrator. You can easily use Canva if you’re looking for a free option.

When you’re creating Instagram story templates, try to consider what you’ll be posting the most of. If you’re a wedding photographer, you’ll probably be sharing a lot of galleries and wedding highlights. You can easily create templates with pretty photo grids that utilize your brand’s typography or color palette.
